About Mr. Lake

Mr. Lake was born and raised in Colville, Washington, a small logging town up near the Canadian border. After graduating from high school, he studied Biology and Chemistry at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Originally, his plan was to become a doctor, but he discovered a passion for teaching as head TA in the Lewis & Clark Biology department and decided to pursue a career in education instead. After undergraduate school, Mr. Lake earned a Master's in Teaching at the Lewis & Clark School of Education & Counseling and student taught at Sherwood High School. While student teaching he was offered a position at SHS for the following year which he happily accepted. He has taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science at SHS since 2014.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Lake spends most of his time with his wife Kassidy. They enjoy cooking together, taking care of their home in Southwest Portland, and travelling.  Like any good Pacific Northwesterners, they also enjoy a myriad of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, backpacking, snowshoeing, skiing, etc.

During the summer, when Mr. Lake isn't travelling with his wife, he is primarily a musician. He is part of a two-man street music act called The Beatbots in which he plays the washboard and several drums attached to his back. He is also trained on the drumset, alto saxophone and accordion. He is learning the guitar and banjo, and tries to sing sometimes too.
