Introductions

What is NAHS?

National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is designed specifically for high school students in grades 9-12. In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the National Art Honor Society program specifically for high school students, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

Meetings:  We will meet every Early Release Wednesday's.  It is mandatory that you attend each meeting for the minimum amount of time, from 3-4pm on Wednesday’s and at least an hour on Friday’s.  We will often stay later, and plan additional meetings that members are not required to attend, but highly suggested as those hours count toward your service hour requirements.

Member guidelines:

All Senior members of the National Art Honor Society must earn 15 art service hours by the end of the year in order to wear the NAHS cords at graduation and/or use the organization NAHS on any resumes or applications (college, work, scholarships, etc.).

All NAHS members who are not seniors must earn 15 art service hours by the end of the year in order to return as a member the next year and/or use the organization NAHS on any resumes or applications (college, work, scholarships, etc.).   If 15 service hours aren’t met, the member will have to reapply the next year to become a member again.

Dues: The National Organization requires that each member pay a $5 fee for membership, we are tacking on an additional $5 for supplies.  Therefore, $10.00 dues must be collected as soon as possible.

Induction Ceremony Date: March, YOUTH ART MONTH! - Date TBA

We will take a photograph of every member with their favorite piece of artwork to be shown at the Induction Ceremony.   We will also keep that artwork for a mini show/reception to follow the Induction Ceremony.  Please invite your parents and dress up for this honorable occasion!
