Technology Hub Updates
The SSD Technology Hub hours have been updated based on feedback from a variety of stakeholder groups. Here is a link to the updated hours (note this is a live document that is updated frequently. It will continue to live on our website and at the bottom of our newsletters under “Resources”.)
Families can always reach out to schedule an appointment if the hours offered don’t work for their family.
Freshmen Football Parent and Player Meeting
There will be a very important meeting for all Freshmen football parents and players on Monday October 12th at 6:00pm at the Sherwood Middle School stadium (16956 SW Meinecke Rd). Every player needs to have one parent at the meeting and you are strongly encouraged to attend as there will be a lot of information covered that you will need to know. Please wear a face covering and sit in the stadium 6 feet apart from other players and parents. This meeting will be the time to ask any questions you may have about high school football.
Those that would like to purchase a helmet, we will be taking orders for the Speed Flex football helmets for $350. Payment will need to take place before the orders go in. If you plan on purchasing a helmet please show up at 5:30pm to get fitted. Your student will have the same helmet for 4 years and we recondition helmets every year at no cost. Please note, it is not a requirement to buy a helmet as we have the standard Revolution helmets for use.

Nutrition Services continues meal distribution services for SSD students. Due to an expansion in the food program from the State of Oregon, all students now qualify for free meals through December 2020. Nutrition Services and Transportation are working together to provide meal delivery to all rural routes and bus stops. Meal distribution hubs will also operate at all school sites for families who reside in walk zones.
In order for your student(s) to receive meals, you will need to register using our order form, found here.
- Students may pick up meals at a school they do not attend if the closest school to them is not their school of attendance.
- All meals are the same at each of our distribution hubs.
- A new early hub has been added at each school from 7:30am to 8:30am on school days.
- Standard meal hub hours are 10:45am to 12:30pm, Monday through Friday on school days.
Materials Distribution and Drop Off
Material distribution or drop off will typically be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am to 3:30pm and will be by teacher invite only. If you have any questions, please reach out to the teacher or contact our Main Office at 503-825-6000.
Student Attendance Updates
We are utilizing our automated phone-calling system to notify families about student attendance. Moving forward, please know that the attendance phone calls will serve as a communication tool, alerting you that your student(s) did not attend the synchronous (Zoom) portion of the learning on a particular day. We are also asking that, when possible, when students are unable to attend the synchronous learning, they message their teachers through Canvas as opposed to a direct email. This will help us to better track student engagement. There is a video below explaining how to do this:
We are continually working to refine our system. Please let us know if you have any questions or how we can best communicate about attendance.
Oregon High School Equestrian Team (OHSET) First Club Meeting – 10/14
The Sherwood High School OHSET team will be meeting on October 14th at 6:30pm in the arena at 16675 SW Parrott Mtn Rd in Sherwood. Please bring your jackets, masks, and chairs as we will be spread out by family group in the open air (covered arena). Please limit attendance to interested athletes and one adult per family. The team is open to all students interested in horse riding from beginners to advanced riders. The team participates in the state-wide OHSET organization which follows OSAA rules. AP Fees 2020-2021 – 10/23
This year the fee for each AP Exam is $95. This is an increase from $69 last year for two reasons:
- Collegeboard increased the fee from $94 to $95.
- The State of Oregon subsidized all AP exams $25 last year and those funds are not available this year.
If this fee is concerning for your family there are a couple options:
- If your student is on a Free and Reduced Meal plan, the fee is automatically waived. We need to know that your student is on this plan as privacy laws do not allow sharing of that information between departments.
- Payment plans are always an option. Contact Debi Bear to set up a payment plan that will work for your family.
- There are limited funds available for those who need them. Contact Scott Hadden or Becky Farwell to be considered for this help.
This fee is due October 23rd, 2020. If the timing is an issue, please consider setting up a payment plan or contacting Scott Hadden or Becky Farwell for assistance. We truly desire that this AP fee not be an additional cause for stress in our stressful world. If you have any questions please contact Becky Farwell at email@example.com
2020 Sherwood High School Booster Club Auction – 11/7
The Sherwood High School Booster Club would like to invite you to join us for our annual auction. Over the last 19 years we have been able to provide over $500,000 for SHS Athletic teams. Since we cannot meet in person this year it will be held virtually. Online auction items will be available November 1st. The live stream event will start November 7th with a preshow at 6:45pm and auction starting at 7:00pm. Please RSVP for more information at sherwoodboosterclub.com.
