SHS Red Cross Blood Drive at Sherwood Center for the Arts – 12/19
Every two seconds someone needs blood and that is why Sherwood High School is partnering with the American Red Cross to help save lives. You can make a difference – your single blood donation will help save three patients in need of life-saving blood. We invite eligible students**, teachers, staff, families and friends to donate tomorrow, Saturday, December 19th.
Parent Consent: Oregon requires 16 year old students to provide a signed parent consent form to donate. To print form and learn more about student donors Click Here or go to redcrossblood.org/eligibility.
SHS American Red Cross Blood Drive

Be Prepared to Donate
- Bring Photo ID or Donor Card (Students must provide photo ID and proof of date of birth)
- 1-2 days before your donation, drink extra water and eat healthy meals. Incorporate iron-rich food (broccoli, spinach, red meat, black/pinto/kidney beans, oatmeal, fortified cereals, bagels, raisins, etc.) into your meals. Helpful Tip: When you eat iron-rich foods, include a source of Vitamin C to help with iron absorption.
- SAVE TIME: go to redcrossblood.org/RapidPass to complete pre-donation questions on your phone or computer. Must be completed on the day of your donation only, not before
Eligibility questions? Click Here or call the Eligibility Hotline at 1-866-236-3276.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing
The American Red Cross is testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The antibody test is authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will indicate if a donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether they ever showed symptoms. Results will be available 7-10 days after donation.
Last weekend’s Blood Drive was a huge success! 30 donors registered, 5 donors were deferred and 25 units were collected (108.7% goal attainment). The 25 units collected will serve 75 patients in need – Amazing!! We also registered 5 first time donors!
Special thanks to Mary Weggeland for the help with facilities and to the Sherwood Center for the Arts for their continued support.
