Reopening Information

Please see the District’s latest communication for an update on our current reopening plans.

Yearbook Update

We will have a yearbook this year and we will be collecting photos for all students in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned for more information.

Supply Pick-Up for Quarter Three

We will continue our standard supply pick-up plans every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00am – 3:30pm.

In-Person Office Hours

We are excited to begin offering In-Person Office Hours starting Monday, February 22, 2021!  This in-person opportunity is open to any student who would like to come on campus to work with teachers in specific content areas.

In-person office hours will be Monday – Thursday, 3:00 – 3:45pm.

Here is the link for to sign-up:  In-Person Office Hours Sign-Up Link
*Sign-ups are closed for next week, but are available for the following week (March 1st – March 5th)

If you have any questions about In-Person Office Hours, please contact your student’s Associate Principal (Adam Mitchell: 9th grade, Scott Hadden: 10th-12th Grade A-K, Katie Voss: 10th-12th Grade L-Z).

As we continue to plan for reopening, it is essential that our Transportation Department begins to collect information about how students and families will utilize our buses. To begin gathering that information, all families whose students will ride the bus (once their grade level reopens in a Hybrid model) need to complete a Transportation Registration form, found here. For more information about safety protocols implemented by our Transportation Department please click here for English, or here for Spanish

Parents of AP Students

As of now, AP is planning on administering exams in person in May. We will communicate when we know more.  With the new high school building, there will be space to accommodate all social distancing requirements for in person exams with masks required.

We are currently working on the exam rosters.  If your student has dropped the AP course and will no longer be taking the exam, that should be reflected in your student’s account next week. If your student dropped their AP course but would still like to take the exam, we can approve that on a case by case basis.

For questions or assistance, feel free to email reach out to Becky Farwell, AP Coordinator (bfarwell@sherwood.k12.or.us) directly.

Health Survey 2020-2021 – 2/22

Our school is participating in the Student Health Survey (SHS), a survey sponsored by the Oregon Health Authority, Public Health Division, and the Oregon Department of Education. The survey will gather information about health risk behaviors of students in grade 11. The survey will be conducted online and is anonymous. It includes questions about:

  • Student health and safety
  • Student mental and behavioral health
  • School climate and culture

Survey procedures have been designed to protect your child’s privacy and allow for anonymous participation. If your child is not comfortable answering a question, they can leave it blank. While we encourage all students to participate, the decision to participate is voluntary. You may opt to send a refusal for your child’s participation. Alternatively, your child will have the opportunity to refuse at the time of the survey.

The survey is also available on the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Public Health website for you to review before the survey date at: healthoregon.org/shs

Please return this form by email to jmoore@sherwood.k12.or.us before Monday, February 22nd, 2021. You need only return this form if you do not wish your child to participate.

2021 Winter Play! – 2/22

To begin where we ended with our 2020 Winter Play “Sense & Sensibility”, our drama department is producing a brand new hilarious version of six of Jane Austen’s works called “Jane Austen, Completely Zoomed!”  Many roles are available, and it’s certain to be fun as we produce these classic works on a zoom platform and impose a time limit for this massive body of work!  Anyone interested in either the acting or technical side can find more information on our website bowmentheatre.com or can email questions to bowmentheatre@gmail.com.

Audition videos are due Monday, February 22nd by 9pm.  Please prepare a one minute monologue. Feel free to use something from Jane Austen or another classic.  All roles will be cast out of the audition videos.  Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday 3:00-5:00pm March 1st – March 11th.  More detailed information is available on the website.

We are excited to dive back into theatre as we create a new work in a new format!
