Dear Bowmen Community,

Again, thank you for another great week.  We continue to learn and grow through this process and I appreciate each of you walking with us through this.

Activities for the week of May 3

Instructional Model Change Opportunity

If you would like to change your instructional model for the remainder of the school year (move from In-Person Hybrid to Cloud Campus or move from Cloud Campus to In-Person Hybrid), please email Gwen Renard at grenard@sherwood.k12.or.us by Wednesday, May 5th at 3:00pm.  

We will make the necessary changes and students will be able to begin in their newly selected instructional model on Thursday, May 6th.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Gwen.  

Attendance Reporting Updates

As we start Quarter Four, please note the following changes in our Attendance Procedures:

Parents are NOT allowed in the building at this time. For appointment pick ups/early releases please call in advance to report to the attendance line. 

If a student is absent from class (either in-person or in-zoom), please notify Shari Ramp in the Attendance Office directly.  The number for the Attendance Line is (503) 825-6010. 

Daily Schedule-Beginning Monday April 26th

  • Students are assigned to cohorts based on last name (Cohort 1 is A-K and Cohort 2 is L-Z)
  • There is not flexibility to change cohorts; we will accommodate families in the same household and ensure that they are in the same cohort

Course Selection (previously called Forecasting) 

The course selection window for our current 9th-11th grade students closes on Monday, May 3rd at midnight.   

If students have questions for their counselors about course selection, they can email their counselor or they can meet with a counselor during lunch.  Counselors will be out at both lunches and will have a virtual zoom room available for students who are in the Cloud Campus to be able to ask questions.  It is okay to ask any counselor your questions on course selection since we are all knowledgeable on the process and course options. Broadway Bits Fundraiser Show 5/7

SHS Performing Arts is putting on our 9th annual Broadway Bits variety show! Tickets are $10 for our livestream show taking place Friday, May 7 at 7:00pm. Get your tickets now by going to www.bowmentheatre.com/bits-2021

Mixolydians Interviews 5/10-5/11

SHS Mixolydians will be holding auditions Monday and Tuesday, May 10 and May 11 at 3pm in the choir room. Callbacks are May 13 at 7:30am and 3:00pm. Come ready with a pop song to sing!

Sign up for Swim Team! 5/10

Swim season starts May 10th.  Please register for Swim Team if you want to join the SHS Swim Team and get the latest updates about the upcoming season.

Sherwood Snowboard Club

SHS Cloud Campus Student Materials Pick Up

Materials pickup are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am-3:30pm. Please note that parents are not allowed in the building and to have your student schedules ready at the front doors when you come for pick up. Thank you.  

School Photos in Yearbook – 5/7

Yearbook is excited to announce that we will be extending our deadlines for the inclusion of student’s school photos. Students may still submit their own photo via the yearbook website if they prefer. This is a change from previous announcements; we appreciate your patience and understanding. 

The new deadline for school photos to be submitted to the yearbook is Friday, May 7, 2021.

The SHS Counseling Team

Hello SHS students and parents.  We are excited to have you back in the building.  

For students that wish to meet with their counselor please email your counselor directly. We will schedule a phone call, zoom call, or in person meeting depending on what is requested and/or needed.

For Cloud Campus students who are in crisis during school hours, please call our counseling secretary at 503-825-6020 and you will be transferred to an available counselor. 

Students in crisis during non school hours, please call the Washington County Crisis Line at 503-291-9111 (available 24/7/365).

Nutrition Services

Sherwood High School offers meals during all lunch periods at no cost to students. Additionally, we offer meals to take home at the end of the school day. Due to our schools having multiple lunch times, locations for dining, requirements to maintain a six foot distance and guidance prohibiting self-service buffet-style meals, all meals will be sack lunch style until the end of this school year. These mitigation measures will help to keep nutrition services staff safe while they provide meal service to our students.

Riding Buses with Friends

In order to maintain our COVID-19 capacity limits and tend to contact tracing on buses, our Transportation Dept. will not have the ability at this time to allow extra bus riders to travel home with their friends after school. Previously, parents/guardians could send a note with their student requesting transportation to a friend’s house on a one-time basis. However, adjustments to transportation plans for this year have put most of our bus routes at full capacity with regular bus riders. This means we cannot guarantee space for additional students not already on a route list for the remainder of this school year. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will continue to review this process as guidance changes in the future. 

A message from Bookkeeper, Debi Bear 

Student fees are tricky to pay during these times. Families can pay online through their parentvue account (unfortunately only works through a browser not the app) or by dropping a check off made payable to Sherwood High School at the front office. Please check your student’s balance online to be sure your check is made out for the correct amount and that your student’s name and what fees you are paying are written on the subject line. If your student shows a refund/credit please contact Debi Bear (dbear@sherwood.k12.or.us).

AP Exams – 5/4 – 5/25

AP exams begin on Tuesday May 4th.  If your student has an exam next week, they (and parents) should have received an email with details.  All in person exams will be held at the District Office – the old Hopkins Elementary Building.  I will be sending out details for later exams and all digital exams after this initial week.

Bowmen Cheer Tryouts! 5/17 – 5/26

Bowmen Cheer Tryouts are scheduled and we are looking for athletes to join us! Our cheerleaders are sideline and competitive athletes who embody school spirit for SHS and our community. Regardless of prior experience levels, you can tryout and see if cheer is for you. Tryouts are May 17-26. Complete this interest form and additional information and a Tryout Packet will be emailed to you. We look forward to seeing you. Go Bowmen!


Jostens Cap and Gown Graduation Orders-Seniors-If you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony this year, you are required to wear a Sherwood High School approved cap and gown. The order deadline has passed, but Josten’s is still accepting orders. Please call them asap to order your cap and gown. You can call toll-free to 1-800-JOSTENS (567-8367).

Grad Night 202142 Days until Grad Night!!

Grad Night Tickets are still available, last day to purchase is June 7th!

Swag bags, prizes, fabulous food, games, other fun surprises! Games, music, photo booths and so much more!  Purchase your tickets now – two options to choose from. Checks and Venmo accepted! Prices go up on May 22nd.   Please contact shsgradnight2021@gmail.com for financial assistance. 

We Need PICTURES of the Class of 2021! Jennifer Carter-Saling is putting together a slideshow of the grads that will play on a loop during the Grad Night Party. Please send a few pictures of your grad alone or with friends? In Sports? As a Baby? Send us all kinds of pictures by May 21st. Please title the pictures with your grad’s name and send no more than 10 pictures, eg. joesmith1, joesmith2. We will try to use as many as possible. Send them to bowmen2021pictures@gmail.com.Thank you Jennifer!! We will try and post it when it is finished on the FB page!

Monthly Can and Bottle Drive

We are just over a week away from our monthly Can and Bottle Drive! Saturday, May 8th.

If you would like to donate your cans and bottles, we will gladly take them off your hands!  Click here to be added to our pickup schedule. Please feel free to share the link with family, friends, and neighbors.  We greatly appreciate all donations!

Also, we are always looking for help with the Can and Bottle Drop!  If you would like to volunteer to help, please click on the signup link.  All junior students who help for a minimum of 1 hour will be entered in to win a $1000 scholarship.

May Raffle Fundraiser

We are excited to announce that we will be doing another raffle fundraiser for the month of May.  We will be raffling off a Senior Photo Session with Shannon Hager Photography and a $500 GIft Certificate to Washington Square!  Raffle tickets will go on sale May 7th and run through May 21st.  Raffle tickets will be $20 ea. A link to purchase raffle tickets will be posted on our FB page, Instagram, and website, starting May 7th.  Please see the attached flyer for more information on the Senior Photo Session. Be on the lookout for more information on this exciting raffle in the days to come!
