MESSAGE FROM MR. MITCHELL

Wow, we are officially one third of the way through the school year already! Our students and staff have worked so hard to have a successful trimester, and we look forward to the upcoming start to Trimester 2 on Tuesday morning. Please see a few reminders and suggestions below as we transition to our new classes:

  • If you have any questions or concerns with any grades in Trimester 1, please continue to have your student advocate and communicate with their teacher in a positive and productive manner. If parents need to communicate directly with their students teacher, please continue to also do so in a positive and productive manner. Our staff are working to finalize grades today and on the teacher grading day on Monday, but are not expected to check or respond to emails during the weekend.
  • Please have your student check their Trimester 2 schedule prior to starting on Tuesday morning so they are prepared to be on time to their new classes.
  • If students have any schedule change requests, please submit a form to the counseling center before the end of the day on Monday, December 12th. Schedule changes requests will only be considered for incorrect level placements, an incomplete schedule, or if there is an error in the student’s schedule. Students may only request to change into courses that they had previously selected in the Course Selection process.
  • With the weather continuing to be more like a typical Oregon winter, it still remains important that cars move as far forward in the drop-off and pick-up line as possible. While it may be slightly beneficial to drop your student off as close to the front door as possible, it will help the entire school be more efficient and get to class on time if everyone moves forward in the drop-off area. Thank you for your help!
  • Finally, please continue to prioritize high rates of attendance for our students. While absences such as illness will be inevitable, working to eliminate absences for other reasons remains a high priority at Sherwood High School. When absences must occur, please be diligent in having student check Canvas and communicate with staff as needed.

Have a great weekend and Go Bowmen!
