June 4, 2021

Dear Class of 2021 and Families:

This is a very exciting time of year for the seniors, parents, and staff. On Friday, June 11, approximately 397 seniors will complete their high school education and graduate as the

Class of 2021. Congratulations to all!

This letter includes year-end details involving graduates.  Please read through the entire letter carefully as there is a lot of important information.

Friday, June 4th is the last day of school for seniors.  Once this day is complete, please know that the only reason members of the graduating class can be on campus is if they are invited for a specific reason by an adult on campus.  If this happens, please remember that you must sign in at the Main Office and you are expected to travel directly to your location and then leave by signing out in the Main Office.

On Monday, June 7th, all seniors are invited to return their Chromebooks, textbooks and other supplies to the high school so that they are able to complete the check-out process. Please plan to return all materials and pay all fees on or before June 7, 2021.  Seniors can access the checklist here.   All steps of the checklist must be complete with appropriate signatures, and turned in to Debi Bear by 3:00pm on June 7th.

Sherwood High School will be hosting two in-person graduation ceremonies in the high school stadium.  The first ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00pm and the second ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00pm.  You may only attend the ceremony that you sign up for.  You may sign up for a ceremony here and the registration closes on Wednesday, 6/9.  There is no graduation rehearsal for seniors this year.  Each graduate is allowed up to six guests and guests must be registered to attend.  Guests can be registered to attend here.  There is also a drive-thru option for Cloud Campus graduates that will take place on June 11th from 9am-12pm.  Sign up for the Cloud Campus Drive-Thru Celebration can be done here

Sherwood High School approved cap/tassel and gown are required to participate in the graduation ceremony. Seniors who ordered through Josten’s and have not already picked up their cap/tassel/gown package, can pick it up in the Main Office. Seniors that did not purchase a cap/tassel/gown through Josten’s and are borrowing from a sibling or friend, are required to bring their cap and gown to the SHS main office for approval to ensure the dye lot matches.

The Graduation Ceremony is the final event to recognize graduates for academic achievement. In keeping with the serious nature of the graduation ceremony, we expect that all graduates will conduct themselves in a way that brings honor to them, their families, and the school. The graduation ceremony is a school event and all school rules are in effect. Medallions, cords, or tassels awarded by SHS are the only adornments allowed with gowns.  Caps may not be decorated.

Graduates will line up on the Lower Multi-purpose field on June 11th by one hour prior to the start of their ceremony (2:00pm or 5:00pm).  Graduates and faculty only are allowed in the line-up area before the ceremony.  Graduates should have their cap and gown in their possession upon entering the property.  Graduates will not be permitted to leave once they arrive. Graduates MUST leave all personal belongings with a friend or family member. There is NO storage available, so please leave backpacks, purses, etc. at home or in your car. After graduation, guests may meet graduates outside in the upper parking lot.

The SHS campus is closed to the public until 1:30pm June 11th. The gates will open 60 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony.  Guests may begin lining up for entrance 30 minutes before the gates open (1:30pm and 4:30pm).  Entrance will be through the lower, main ticket gate.  Exit will be through the upper, smaller ticket gate.

ADA Accessible parking is located at the front of the building, in the main parking lot as well as in the upper parking lot by the stadium.  It is a long walk regardless of which parking lot you choose.  There is ADA Accessible seating within the stadium and will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

GradImages will be on-hand to capture a photograph of your graduate. The proofs will be posted on a password protected website for the graduates to view and order. If you have questions regarding this service, please call GradImages at 800-628-4509 or at www.gradimages.com.

Both Graduation ceremonies will be live-streamed.  The link for the livestream will be on the Sherwood High School website, taking viewers directly to the Graduation ceremony on June 11th.

Graduates will pick up their diplomas immediately following the graduation ceremony, (reminder: seniors who did not completely check out will not receive their diploma).

Graduates please remember that drinking and driving is illegal and dangerous. This is always a concern to parents and staff this time of year. The Sherwood High School Grad Night 2021 Committee sponsors an excellent All-Night Party for graduating seniors. This party is chaperoned by parents, and all graduates are encouraged to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact the Main Office.  We look forward to seeing you and celebrating with you next week!

Sincerely,

Melissa Baran
